Erin & Eric have been clients, turned friends since before their oldest Nora was born. It is such a privilege to capture these family photos now that baby Brooks is here and their family of 5 is complete. Brooks Donald was born April 2, just under 7lbs and although a few weeks early is healthy, thriving and honestly the cutest little addition to the Barr family. Aubree & Nora can’t get enough of him. Neither could I! 

Erin asked if a newborn outdoors was possible and my answer is always going to be yes. A spring baby can be tricky but we lucked out with a gorgeous evening spent in one of my favorite locations. The green spring grass and trees complimented the blue tones that Erin chose for their outfits & I’m in love with how these turned out. 

Brooks was almost a month old when these photos were taken-today is actually his 1 month birthday! If you feel you missed your newborn window never fear. Although they change rapidly during the first few weeks of life, a lifestyle newborn session gives us flexibility to shoot later dates. I always welcome open eyes or a non sleepy baby. We are all about the snuggles and love welcoming your new baby to the family & that’s what I want to capture for you. 

There is something incredibly special about a maternity session years in the making. Everything is a little sweeter when you’ve waited so long. I am no stranger to fertility struggles & shed happy tears on the day Jessica told me she was expecting.  She had skipped a couple horse shows which should have made me suspicious, but it was still an amazing surprise. I am beyond thrilled for this little one’s arrival & today we get to celebrate her & Andy at their baby shower. 

We have to talk about Jessica’s other love, Bubbles. Could a horse be more photogenic?  Bubble’s new little rider will be here in a month, I can already picture the lead line classes and western wear. I’m sure the cowboy boots are going to be quite the collection. Not many get the opportunity to share their horse with their children & speaking from experience it will make your heart overflow. That’s what motherhood is in a nutshell. Day after day of your heart bursting with love. Jessica & Andy are going to be amazing parents & I cannot wait for them to be mom & dad.

I got to spend my Sunday afternoon with my sister Ashley, her husband Rob and their two boys. What looks like chaos is actually the sweetest little hobby, syrup making. (See what I did there? haha)

This is their third syrup making season and every year gets a little bigger in scope and set up. Next year Rob has plans to build a sugar shack. It will be beneficial for when the days get cold while cooking. So far the weather has been perfect this month with chilly nights and warmer days that keeps the sap flowing. It is a family affair and not easy work. After tapping the trees you have to constantly monitor the sap bags, hauling buckets and making sure the boiling process runs smooth, cutting wood and keeping the fires evenly lit. My sister is turning into quite the lumberjack and I’m impressed with her log splitting capabilities. I was surprised to learn it takes an average of 40 gallons to make one gallon of syrup. Last year they made about 5 gallons of syrup. After it’s boiled down there is a whole science to filtering and testing the sugar content and a lot of debate on what makes a great tasting syrup. With all that time & effort spent I’m happy they decide to share! In fact, they just stocked my farm stand with some jars. If you are local be sure to stop by and grab some to try.

I thought I would see if I still remember how to do this whole blogging thing. Turns out I do & I miss it. I thought I would highlight some of my favorite sessions that you missed out on over the last year. Starting with the Price Family.

Nothing gets me more excited than photographing another photographers family because it’s such an honor to be chosen. As a photographer it’s hard not to have a critical eye & if they booked me, well that says a lot. I feel the love. Nikki’s family is always perfectly coordinated, her kids are used to the camera and Brian…he tolerates it. JUST kidding. He’s great and such a sport when it comes to my weird ideas like climbing logs or making out with his wife like they are teenagers 😉

Their session was done in October & it feels likes yesterday. Nikki sent me a collage of their photos that she hung shortly after and it made my day. I hope to see you all again soon!

The Dmytryshyn Family welcomed sweet little Riley Allison on April 18th. She decided to arrive on her own schedule, almost a month early!

She is doing amazingly well and adjusting just fine to her new life, being the center of attention by all of her doting siblings. Big sister Brooklyn is especially enamored and couldn’t stop kissing on her. Their whole session at home was basically a dream since none of the kids could keep their hands off her. She is so precious and petite, I don’t blame them at all. Congratulations Dmytryshyn family, I couldn’t be more happy for you!

You guys. This weather has been giving me life. It is SO amazing to be shooting outside again without my fingers feeling like they are going to fall off. Even better to be shooting outside with the Smith family at their gorgeous new home. 

Corbyn just turned one and we celebrated this milestone with a family session. We put a little extra focus on him to capture his laid back personality.  I have to say, he is the sweetest and is my current favorite Smith kid. Mostly because he can’t run away from me-yet.

I would love to introduce you to the darling little Hadley Mae! She was born February 18th and is a little sweetheart.

In true Stocker baby fashion Miss Hadley came into this world with a little drama, just like her big sister Everly. Taylor’s pre-eclampsia returned unexpectedly and Hadley was born at 35 weeks & 3 days. After about week’s stay in special care at Mclaren she was able to come home and join her family. Mama was just happy she wasn’t born before 35 weeks like big sister. She is just over a 4 weeks now & doing great. Those adorable cheeks will show you just how well she’s growing!

Say hello to Rory! The Dixon family welcomed him earth side on February 20th. He weighed 7lbs 6oz & was 20.5 inches long. He is a doll with a full head of dark hair like his daddy. Big brother favors mom and it is adorable that they might have 2 mini me’s on their hands. I also have to make one little note. I am so glad mom and dad carried on the naming tradition. Robyn & Corry already creatively welcomed big brother Corbyn and now they have little Rory. I love the combination of their names and how meaningful their choices are. I’m so excited to watch these brothers grow. I know I could be biased having 3 sisters of my own but having a sibling is the greatest gift. I hope they have a life long bond. Congratulations Dixon family. I am so happy for you!
